Laurence and Gilles Laurendon are authors by profession and gourmands by avocation, inseparable partners in their writing, their labors of love in the kitchen, and their lives. Aficianados of Diderot and 18th century history, the diverse and imaginative works by this French couple are inspired by their insatiable curiosity.
"Writing makes you hungry," they explain. "So we cut our days in half. In the morning, we write; after that, we cook. What a delicious way to spend our royalties!"
A writer and editor, Laurence Laurendon is the author of history books and a specialist in the history of everyday life through the centuries. She has also published children's books and, with husband Gilles, oversees various collections in culinary arts, history and literature. Her most recent books include The Cuisine of Fées, Godin or the Gastronomic Invention, and The Great Adventure of the Nouveau Cirque.
Gilles Laurendon is an editor and novelist. He is the author of numerous children's books that have been translated and published worldwide, widely read in many countries including Japan, the United States, Italy and Israel.
