Our Virtual House Tour: Relax at Our Updated Bar Our "house tour" would not be complete without a leisurely look around our updated bar, more lively than ever after the completion of our major refurbishing during 2003.
Stretching the length of the room is our beautifully resurfaced and refinished bar, where our patrons pull up a stool and enjoy their favorite beverage while relaxing with friends. Glance behind the bar and you'll find the best bar selection in the area, including grand house martinis, 30 wines by the glass, premium beers, relaxing cocktails, and fresh-squeezed juices. Stylish new lighting, refurbished seating and delightfully artistic flourishes complete this perfect setting for unwinding and good conversation.
A signature feature of our updated bar is the "Good News mural" by French artist Jean Duranel that now graces the length of the interior wall of the bar. Duranel's paintings, which have had two successful exhibitions at Good News (see his bio in the "Archive" of the Gallery section on this website), colorfully interpret everyday subjects in a magical, dreamlike world lightened by his rich sense of humor. You'll find in this slide show Duranel's unique view of the world of the Good News Cafe and the producers who provide the foods for our table--look for his whimsical sketches of Carole and Bernard!
Patrons often visit the bar as well for hors d'oeuvres, dessert or a full meal, and several new booths are available along with traditional bar seating. The bar provides continuous meal service throughout the day.
