House Tour

Carole Peck's Good News Cafe welcomes old friends and new acquaintances to our home in the classic New England town of Woodbury, Connecticut, to join us for lunch and dinner six days weekly (closed Tuesdays). But even if you visit us frequently, you may never have taken the opportunity to take a leisurely "house tour" of Good News. For longtime patrons and newcomers alike, you'll be surprised at how much work we have done around the restaurant in recent months to make your dining experience with us more enjoyable than ever.

That's one reason why Carole asked local photographer Charlie Heyman, owner of Moment Captured in nearby Washington, Conn., to capture with his camera the images and spirit of the Good News Cafe for all to share in the "virtual house tours" and "virtual menu sampler" presented on this website. If you have not already viewed our "menu sampler" serving up images of some of Carole's most popular dishes, please don't miss it--but be warned that it is certain to whet your appetite!

Your house tour begins with this slide show (start by clicking on the top image in the right-hand column), beginning with the curbside view from Main Street South (US Route 6) and proceeding past the permanent exhibition of landscape sculptures by George Nicke Hendricks into the Good News Cafe. There you will be greeted by our thoroughly modern Millie in Good News tee and receive an introduction to the cookbooks of Ici La Press, featuring Carole's popular "Buffet Book." Linger for a moment upon entry to take in the visual delights of our dessert and coffee bar, which also provides service for your take-out orders.

Ready to be seated? When you complete this slide show, take your pleasure and proceed to the "house tour" of our indoor and outdoor dining experience at Good News Cafe. We recommend that you take the tour of our recently refurbished bar as well, where you can enjoy a drink, hors d'oeuvres, and even a full meal. As a complement to your "virtual house tour," please also spend a few moments viewing our "New Look" album of photos taken immediately after our 2003 renovations of the bar and interior dining rooms.

We're delighted to take this opportunity to introduce you to the fresh, upbeat and vibrant new look of Carole Peck's Good News Cafe--and we look forward to your next visit to savor the real thing!
