Charity Ball 2010

GOOD NEWS EARTH DAY CHARITY BALL
Saturday April 24, 2010

Good News Cafe hosted its 9th annual community charity event, a grand finale of Earth day weekend happening throughout our towns.

Carole Peck and Bernard Jarrier feel this is a way to give back to the community that is so supportive of Good News Cafe. This supports our commitment to raise awareness for our farms, fields, waters and community members in need. We do hope that you all joined us for an evening of celebration and comraderie.

Good News Earth Day Charity Ball was held at the "Silo" 641 s. Main St. Woodbury,CT. The "Silo" was freely lent by Ken Devino so, all the fan fare will culminate under its one big roof. Decor inspiration by Sofie Kirk of Wildflowers, including contributions from local schools with Earth day posters and a can food drive which resulted into a pyramid sculpture.

Festivities and dancing began at 7 pm and lasted until midnight.

Of course the evening featured a sumptuous dinner and dessert buffet prepared by Carole's team with beer, wines, and pure water. A cash martini and liquor bar will be available.

Tapping into our local entertainment two youth groups the Creative Arts studio and Main Street Ballet performed. To get us dancing Willie Nininger Band did the trick, as well as interludes with the Offbeats drumming up rhythms and vibrations of the earth.

Other happenings at the Ball were the Chocolate Mudpie contest accomplished thru an appeal to all those who love to bake. The pies will be displayed with a ticket box each, for a Chinese auction offering guests a chance to win their favorite pie as the evening winds down.

Also a book signing with the Cast Iron Cookbook's Author Joanna Prousse took place.

Lets not forget the ever important, silent auction, which invited a chance for everyone to give generously for earthly possessions donated by businesses and individuals. Remember that definitely helped raise our ability to support and give in a true sense of community spirit
A Good News gift indeed!
