Dining in the Gallery

One of the pleasures of your dining experience at Carole Peck's Good News Cafe is the care that Carole and Bernard have taken to make sure that your surroundings are as upbeat, vibrant and exciting as the meals served at table. Through the photography of Charlie Heyman, we continue our house tour with a walk through the warm and richly colorful dining spaces of Good News.

Your slide show tour begins in the main dining room, refreshed with newly painted walls in a warm yellow, new lighting, new table settings and other artful decorative flourishes. The main dining room is always alive with the excitement of fine art, providing a perfect space for continuing exhibitions of paintings, sculptures and other works by local, regional and international artists.

Our tour then proceeds to the Radio Room, so named for Carole's eclectic collection of more than four dozen vintage radios and related equipment displayed on shelving around the perimeter of the room. New seating, table settings and lighting have combined with freshly repainted walls in a bold green to rouse tastebuds and conversation, complemented by continuing art exhibitions in the room. The Radio Room also offers a great place to host a private dinner party for up to 60, or a cocktail party for up to 100 guests. (If you wish to consult with Carole to arrange a party customized for your needs, please call our manager at (203) 266-4663 to schedule a date.)

In summer 2004, diners at Good News Cafe discovered that the popular outdoor dining on the patio in front of the restaurant has been transformed into a garden of culinary delight, with dining privacy enhanced by newly installed wood screening. The patio offers ample seating at tables spread across the refreshing new aqua-painted surface of the patio, brought alive during the warmer months from late spring to early autumn by an explosion of flowers, herbs and other natural delights in our patio garden. Our slide show concludes with a walk about the patio to sample the new experience of outdoor dining at Good News.
