Barbara Yasuda
Showing work from March 30th-May 30th

Barbara Yasuda s show titled In between , is a series of works created during her recent life transitions. Transitions are a passage from one life scene to the next. Whether chosen or thrust upon one, the change that is required brings both turmoil and opportunity. Transitions are not always smooth progressions from point A to B. There is disruption, confusion, often a sadness and sometimes elation during these intervals in life. The one constant in life is change itself.
During this time of life adjustment, Yasuda has felt the need to sample styles including representational and abstract, while returning the familiarity of nature for inspiration. In this series, she chose both the land and waterscape with the one exception, Windows , where she was examining the lives of others, seeking resolution in her own. Yasuda has also ventured into new supports; She has left the comfort of the canvas and painted on paper, and has found a new love of MDF board. Feeling well acquainted with oils, Barbara continues with this medium.
In Between embodies my experimentation with representational and abstract landscapes, in attempt to settle the confusion brought about by life s constant change.
Barbara Yasuda graduated from the University of Bridgeport in 1981 and has taken various classes in pastels, collage, oils and figurative painting throughout Connecticut. She has also held exhibits at City-Wide Open Studios in New Haven and Two Person Show, Kafe International in Cheshire.
