Young Artists, 2005 Show

Carole Peck's Good News Cafe is pleased to make our gallery space available once again to showcase paintings by talented young artists from the fine arts program of the Region 15 school district.

The current show, "Beginnings," on exhibition through April 11, represents the youngest group of Region 15 students ever to present their works at Good News Cafe and Gallery. The 14 students whose paintings have been selected for the show are currently enrolled in the fourth and fifth grades of Pomperaug Elementary School in Southbury.

Students chose their own materials to create still-life subjects that they have painted with remarkable skill on the canvases currently on exhibition. Guests who view the "Beginnings" show at Good News can learn more about our featured artists by reading each student's personal statement and biography, posted immediately next to his or her work in the Radio Room.

Following are the featured young artists and the titles of their works:

Kimberly Crozier, "Aqua Waves"
Rebecca Beilinson, "Fire Blaze"
Mary Kaufman, "Checkers"
Mike Foley, "Looly"
Megan Kiran Nayar, "Blossoms of Color"
Shannon M. Conway, "Floating Glass"
Taylor Fleming, "Fruity Blue"
Derek Domogala, "Fruit Wave"
Jetika Kloth, "Juicy Spectacular"
Ruchita De, "Sparks"
Gabby Holguin, "Glowing Green"
Jessica Clayton, "Rainbow Fruit"
Emma Silverstein, "Purple Splash"
Henry Archie, "Check Mate"

We congratulate all of these young artists on their artistic achievement, and express thanks to Jane Sarjeant and Region 15 for sharing these wonderful works with out patrons at Good News!

You may view a sampling of the works by Pomperaug Elementary School students currently showing at Good News by taking the "slide show" on this page. To begin your slide show, please click on the first painting thumbnail image at the top of the right-hand column.
