Ted Witek

The current exhibition in the Radio Room of the Good News Cafe showcases the emerging body of photographic art by Ted Witek, a Connecticut native now living in Germany whose roving lens has captured personalized representations of scenes spanning the world from Australia and New Zealand to Southeast Asia, Turkey and North America.

Witek describes his artistic approach “as simply framing images of varied elements that are present in most visual circumstances. Shadows and reflections often contribute to the uniqueness of my photographs. The show features often bizarre, but real, situations of forgotten mannequins. I also enjoy capturing the quite simple but appealing patterns found in nature, street markets and cities.

"It is one thing to view things differently; it is another to capture them. I have a passion for attempting to do both in my photographs,” he says.

Witek holds degrees in natural sciences from Quinnipiac College, public health from Yale and Columbia universities, and business from Henley College in London. He has published extensively in his profession of drug development and medical marketing. Though never formally trained in the visual arts, he has recently organized several photo essays and begun to exhibit his photographic work. His first show came at the encouragement of his wife, Ellen, who coordinates exhibitions for The American Women’s Club of The Taunus in Oberursel, Germany.
